Five Plus One
Five Plus One
~
You’re almost six, how can it be?
Seems like yesterday you were three.
Where you’d go, my little boy?
My precious one, my pride and joy.
Where’s the cuddling upon my knee?
Where’s that toddler that looked like me?
How you’ve grown my little man,
Makes me shiver like little can.
Though I enjoy big boy games,
I miss the baby stages just the same.
~
Lord above, hear my plea,
Keep my boy close to me.
If he must grow from boy to man,
Keep him near his daddy’s hand.
Bless his year that’s about to come,
As he turns five plus one.
