From the dock, our boat speeds off Into a channel to the calm Gulf of Mexico waters Stopping when the GPS identifies our favorite reef Hoping to catch a tasty treat, we cast with anticipation It’s not until sundown when fish start to hit Nibbling at our bait in a frenzy until finally Grouper is on our dinner plate! Hi Carolyn, a wonderful Acrostic comes forth from your pen. My Dad used to love going fishing, whether he caught something or not. I think he just enjoyed the peaceful surroundings more than anything. Loved the content of this one. It brought back many memories to me. I never, ever, caught a fish. That is one big fish. I hope it does well for you in the contest. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Just being out on the sea is its own reward, Vladislav. Catching is important if you're hungry, but there were some days when fish didn't bite and it was still better than doing anything else.

Yours is a very good Acrostic, and the topic is one which draws the attention of many. I enjoy fishing (from the rocks), but I have never caught fish that size! I'd need a dozen fish to make up for a single grouper that feeds a family! Hugs // paul

There's very little waste with Grouper, Paul, but I only caught them when I was out in deep water. The bass that are caught among the rocks are tasty, just smaller and harder to clean. Thanks for reading.

Wow! What a fish and a fun poem. I used to fish a lot in the lakes years ago. Loved being out on the water. I enjoyed this :)

Sometimes just one fish can feed a family. If you allow your line to get too close to a reef, a Grouper will grab it and hide there. It takes time to learn how to hook them, but it's certainly worth the effort. Glad to know another fishing fan!

Now, that's a fish! Well penned; good luck with the contest.

Cute one. I am not a fan of eating fish, but if you batter it up and fry it for me, I just might like that!

Try Parmesan-crusted baked grouper, Andrea. No oil or breading calories and the taste is heavenly.

G'day Carolyn … you do realize a lot of poets envy you. Fishing is a great hobby and never a waste of time even if the fish don't bite - thank you Carolyn - Lindsay

Come to Florida, Lindsay, and we'll go fishing. Even when nothing's biting, it's great to be outside all day communing with God and nature.

My secretary had a hat that said, "I'd Rather Be Fishing." I kept threatening to swipe it, but she loved fishing as much as I did. The only people who ever got seasick on my boat were men. Women fish big time in Florida.

Sometimes we'd leave a line or two in the water overnight and wake up to find breakfast. LOL
