Fishermen

Step onto the great vessel, with the floor beneath his feet, As he waves by to those who mean the most to him in his life. With a crew of six men, everyone is embarking on a great journey from within Some are seasoned fishermen, others are still wet behind the ears. Claim your job on the boat as you throw traps after traps. To the ocean below. Watching the waves as they gain strength and wind, while the waves crash over the side of the ship again. Tired and frustrated as fatigue and emotions set in These fishermen are going up against mother nature again. The captain calls down to the deck String one is almost set. Missing their family and their friends, looking forward to the trips end. This is what it is like to be a fishermen.

Fishing is really hard work, but those who do it enjoy the challenge. No doubt they miss their families though. Your poem reminded me of the struggles fishermen faced in "The Perfect Storm." Nice work, Cory! Love, Carolyn
