First Love

I thought that love was great 
Until it happened to me
For when I fell in love with you
It wasn’t meant to be.

I gave all I had
When love came my way.
You took all, and sadly
Then you wouldn’t stay.

And I know as my heart is breaking
And I feel it will never mend.
That this is just the beginning
Though I wish it were the end.
