First Five Hours of Today

Woke up at 3:23 a.m. and worked on four paintings at kitchen table.
Husband wandered in, making me mad. I like my alone time.
I chased him out, after he fed the dog, because he is able.
Then I began smearing paint, so started creating a rhyme.

Added witches and cats and goblins and werewolves and such.
It was all October stuff, which might seem odd in June.
Liked what I was drawing out, oh so delightfully much!
Stopped inking the canvas and began writing a tune.

My mind is eclectic, it does not want to finish anything first.
I like dropping one thing for another, a tiny quirk.
Some teachers used to despise this, thought it was the worst.
But it is 8:12 a.m. and I am having fun writing at work.

School does not start until nine, my duty begins at 8:45.
My friend on the phone has a coat to sell that is pink.
I come an hour or two early, for I despise traffic on my drive.
Arranged to see the coat after school, I’m a spend-thrift with ink.
