Firm On the Ground
Firm On the Ground
I’ve weaved my sturdy house
Not in seams of a bust blouse
Neither in quagmire or mound
But in so firm a rocky ground.
Friends I do need on the road
Just to lighten my heavy load
Not the purpose of my travel
To establish or to unravel.
Being my Sister or my Brother
Does not appoint one a bother
I’m not an elusive Hypocrite
Whose schemes are discreet.
Let me wear self inside-out
So that I dispel any doubt:
Whoever claims to know most
His knowledge is fast lost.
I’m firmly put on the ground
I’m not just a moving mound
I’m not a Radical or Shaker
I’m a devoted Peace Maker.
I follow the Sages’ footsteps
Not to beg at their doorsteps
No hammer this body will hack
I was born bold and Black!
