Fires of Love

FIRES OF LOVE Once upon a time, not so long ago, Fires of love burned high and were so aglow. Then some things transpired snuffing out the flame, Now the fire seems gone, things are not the same. Every day goes by, passing us so fast, And we can’t deny the damage of the past. But we can still go back and light the fire again Let them burn so bright, kindling love within. Let’s find a way through prayer, reading of God’s word, Listening to His voice, applying what we’ve heard. Not put up a wall, refusing to admit Where our faults have been and give up or quit. God can help us now; He has awesome ways To renew our love to a burning blaze. He can help us light the fires of love again, Stop the blaming game of whose fault it’s been. Each of us has helped this fire to go out, And we both can stop this struggle and the doubt. And pray earnestly, asking God to heal, For He’s there to guide, and His help is real. The flame now is just low, somehow it is there, Let us not give up and say we do not care. God was in that flame not so long ago, He wants it once more to burn bright, I know. It’s not been His will that we’ve gone astray From the love we knew and that fire that day. It’s not time to wait for one of us to start, Let us light the fires of love now in our heart.
