Fireflies In the Garden
~Fireflies in the Garden~
The ineffable joy, for a young poetess's heart.
At age seven, observing fireflies in her lush summer garden, dart.
Such oh so magical things, thought she.
Young lover of nature, who also delighted in hugging trees.
Or, to observe the birds, in the huge water fountain, bathing.
To her brown eyes, a window to the world set her heart, a swaying.
Even humble goldfish in their round bowl swimming.
Stole her simple heart, they were gleefully winning.
Whiskers of her cat, how they tickled her tanned face!
Now grown, her little girl heart doth to this day fully embrace.
Fireflies in the garden, how lovely they glow.
Appear in her heavenly dreams, she chases them with her little
girl arms, still.....ah, so very long ago!
