Fireflies

You said the world could be mine if only I dared I wept when you left, but you never cared If I am more than the sum of my surroundings Why can’t you save me from drowning? I did the impossible so I could be stronger than Who I was, who I am, who I’ll never be again You told me you’d wait, give me the stars in the sky But you always knew they were just fireflies
