FIRE FRIEND

I never wanted
To take a thing
I needed your hope
To sing
...a song

I didn't need
Your silver or gold
Only your soft hand
To gently hold
...a moment

I wasn't trying
To drain compassion
Just wondering if you want to share
My meger ration
...a memory

I desired a friend
In the forming fire
To understand
I'm not a liar
...a witness

I longed for family
A community connected
To breathe alongside
Lonely, rejected
...a healer

That's all, nothing else...
