Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

My awareness has gotten stronger,
Awaiting the uncomfortable emotional blow.
Concentrating on my heartache,
Carrying the assumption this is all just for show.

You don’t concern yourself with my well-being,
My emotions do not have a place in your heart.
You abuse my pride and humiliate me to no end,
Offering me no security or safe place to fall apart.

Always asking for something in return, never giving,
Failing to come to my rescue when I have fallen to prey.
Always making it a point to be heard,
All the while, never listening to what I say.

Never offering a hand or a kiss to make things better,
Shutting me out and ignoring my questions of hope.
Letting me believe that I’m not important and money fixes everything,
My fight is hopeless when my competition is composed of your glass, fire and dope.
