Fingertips At Heaven
FINGERTIPS AT HEAVEN
He sat there and listened to Paul on that day,
Heard how Christ had met him on Damascus Way.
He was well familiar with whom Paul did preach,
Heaven was there waiting just for him to reach.
Fingertips at heaven that king had that day,
“Almost I’m persuaded,” then he turned away.
He was very righteous, rich in all his gold,
And he came to Jesus and was very bold.
“You’re from heaven sent here, tell me what to do
So I’ll be in heaven there to live with You.”
“You know the commandments, if you will obey,
You can enter heaven, be with Me some day.”
But when he had boasted, one thing Jesus knew,
Riches kept him from it, what he would not do.
Fingertips at heaven, that man had that day,
But he then rejected and went on his way.
I was like those people, I believed the words
Of the Bible stories that I often heard.
But with just of knowing all it is about,
I’d not be in heaven, I would be shut out.
Fingertips at heaven for so many years,
Then the Spirit broke me and I cried in tears,
“Lord, I now receive You and I come today
Make You now MY Savior, take my hand I pray.”
God reached for my fingers there at heaven’s door,
In His hand I am now, safe forever more.
Though I feel unworthy when I’m weak or frail,
His mercy comes to help me if I fall or fail.
Fingertips at heaven some day now I’ll see—
The scars there just to show me how much He loved me!
