And so affection seeks to wane
without faith's holding on in vain.
I hold my thought in context's aim
to some adjustment, love's contain.

As filtering truth, I filter feign
so glories honor fits thy name.
I filter solace, peace maintain
no purpose hollow, thee might claim.

As all in all, I filter rain
that burdens thee in thy domain.
I filter sunshine to thy gain
that warming fortress wiles proclaim.

But of consent in truth, abstain
from wrong's direction, sin's refrain.
In purpose forward, lift the stain
that all creation borders main.

I filter love, as heaven's reign
would speak of time, in season's crane.
I filter rhyme to message plain
the words of why I love, explain.

But more the more, I pray, restrain
the thought that God would see me slain
to ended spill of courage ~ drain
where ever more imparts a swain ~

Who answers heart . . . then turns again!
