Filling the Paces Between Our Spaces

The moon and you I look at the moon and I feel blue You’re not here, you went away Nothing I could do, could make you stay Even though, I prayed and prayed I hoped to never see that day But you were needed somewhere else God He knew all about your wealth I’ll miss you till the day I die Even so, I know I have to try My life goes on despite my cries And enemies come and crowd my mind Trying to drive me from my purpose Trying to make me diverted I think of what you would say And I’m empowered by your loving ways A great sadness I feel from losing you But God He helps me to renew Sometimes, I have moments of tears Yet I have a will to see me through my years It won’t get me past loving you That is something I’d never do But one day when I’m on the other side I’ll see you again in that next life I know what love is and I can reach Others who feel they can barely breathe Read my poems and let the emotions Crash around us as would the ocean Take the reader to the loving place That I once knew when I saw your face I’m not here to win any races Just filling the paces between our spaces

This is sad and hopeful. If this is your experience please accept my condolences. Losing ones partner is an unimaginable loss to comprehend. Hugs Rick.

Rick, I wrote this for a friend. I have experienced loss in my life but not the loss of a lifetime partner. As the writer though I did put some of myself in this piece. I tried to convey a mixture of loss, recovery, peace, hopefulness, and love. I hope I came close. To those who have felt a sadness this deep, my heart goes out to you. Hugs, C.A.
