Fiesty
Sundown.
No one around,
but me.
Company?
No, I don’t need
the constant feed
of compliment.
Besides.
One simply rides
the fence,
to gain distance.
Brazen?
Well, I’m no raison
all shriveled up,
no coffee in my cup.
I still have a stream.
Dream?
I’d say so.
Maybe narrow
in the wake
but for goodness sake,
at least I’m alive.
Strive?
Well I mean to,
want to
everything I do.
When the mind says go
if the body says no,
then, that is the end
my friend.
I’ve learned not to haggle
over things
trite or fragile
the gain
is outweighed by pain.
Advice?
Well, putting it nice.
Tend to your own.
Don’t leave here alone.
Have a friend to
say goodbye at the end.
