Fields of Crimson Poppies

Listen to poem:
Fields of Crimson Poppies David J Walker Tonight I sleep in fields Of crimson poppies Sunset has Come and gone And I alone Await dawn With brothers Lined in rows And this is how the order goes Red is the coverlet that fills my eyes And tilts my head to see the coming sunrise Promises made by sainted chaplains Yet unrealize There will be shade In the aftermath Of the storm

Sleeping in fields, seeing the possible aftermath of the storm. Interesting thoughts. I'll be looking in on more of your material, D.

Thank you, John. As a veteran, I wonder if I could have had the courage those WWI soldiers had.

I love to listen to your voice read your poetry David. My husband had the most beautiful deep voice that everyone remarked about when they met him. You also have a very appealing voice and it is wonderful that you read your poetry. I enjoyed this lovely poem very much. Thank you blessings xxoo
