Feelings From Afar

In the background, The setting sun, Dreams of fun, Us running in some grassy park, It’s getting dark, You glisten in the sun’s dying light, Emotions shooting from love’s gun, As I wrestle with myself, Dreaming of you from a distance, Regrets from the instant I let you walk away, Without words to say, Things I should’ve said, Jailed thoughts inside my head, No courage to even say hi, Admiring you from behind the trees, Of fear, I’m only able to stare, No words to ever leave my mouth, Wish I could come over to talk to you, Watching you walk, away with your friends, Around the bend, Wanting to extend, my hand To catch a rogue stand, Of your hair, To be caught in your gaze, Feeling awkward in your presence, My mind, that little menace, Playing tricks on me, Hoping that you’ll smile at me. I see you and I want to run away, I want to fly away like a scared hummingbird, Afraid to sip from your flower, Rather I’ll just sit and cower, Keep the spaces between us, I see you when you’re waiting for the bus, Telling myself I must, Stop being afraid, But it feels like you were made From the stars, But my fears surround me like jail cell bars, How do I break free, How do I escape myself and let it be seen, That I’m lost in your existence…
