The child sits upon the new dock
Enjoying summer's air
Dipping her toes in the river
Sun reflects from fair hair
She's captivated by ducks swimming
In quiet blue waters
Unaware of previous tribes
Who lived here with daughters
Slowly she cast small crumb by crumb
Her bread upon the sea
Thinking how much fun for the ducks
Floating quietly must be
The child in me joins her today
And sits upon the dock
Nothing reminds me of time
Nor will I look at a clock
