Fear No More
I listened through the stillness of the night.
Sadly, how silence have betrayed me.
In search for a hopeful familiar sound,
not a blow of breath to reassure me.
I looked back amidst the shadows
seeing how the light outlined your frail figure.
I examined the rise and fall of the sheet
expecting for a movement in the slightest measure.
'Twas my delight that I saw a sign of life.
Relief has shed off my painful dread.
Again, I turned around to lean on your back
certain of your living presence beside the bed.
