Fear In the Dark
I’ve been here before
It’s not a new route
Holding the steering wheel
Clutch ready to boot
I stare into the distance
Barely reading the signs
But I’ve been here before
Are my eyes going blind?
I continue my path
And I trust my instincts
But my brain knows I’d be better off
Interpreting a sphinx
I’m rushing tonight
Because lives are at stake
My work is important
I can not be late
The next road I travel
Is darker than most
My headlights are on
Am I close to the coast?
Smoothly and quickly
My eyes now can see
The scariest image I could ever believe
I didn’t even feel
The barricade break
Just the knot in my chest
As my heart started to ache
There’s no turning back now
I’m falling into the night
And all I can think is
I’m now turning off my light.
