Fear In Love

Why were you so afraid
I promised I'd never let you down.
But, fear made you a killer
and inside these tears I drown.
For I've forgotten how to swim
but for you I tried to cross the sea
I thought I could make it far
oh, the believer you'd made of me.
Daily I said I love you
but those words held all our fears
did I wait in vain for a reply?
So I sink to bitter tears.
You could not believe my words
I'd believed in everything you'd said
I took that fear and leaped in faith
but you ran with all your words unsaid.
And, with no one here to catch me
I'm falling faster to the ground
to shatter into pieces
but, I will not make a sound.
I can't scream your name,
for fear of hurting you too
yet, at least now I know
what is was that was scaring you.
