Fear

Somewhere between
waking and dreaming
I heard the spirit call my name
Caught in the wheels of change
Things are not as bad as you fear
The moonlight streaked across the garden
As the ivy crawled along the ground

You experience life on a scale unknown and unthought of by many. You have insight into the spiritual (it's obvious) and that makes you one of the few in this culture. "Things are not as bad as you fear" just a simple line, but with so much to think about. The effect of fear on us is gripping. You also mention change--that is the buzzword of today, but you put it in a personal context with such grace and humility. Can you tell I like the way you write? I am a fan!!

oooh, this has mystery and great tone. I especially loved the last two lines, personification of moon and ivy. So nice!

Your poem almost begs for more stanzas Debbie. There is so much more you could add to this wonderful poem....I hope you will consider it. : ) 7
