Fatherhood

Fatherhood is a joy brought by the marvel of new things
It comes in a child's gaze that seems to sing
Of the joy within his father's heart
Felt by the pride as he makes a part
For a son in his life--
A love upon which he would be called to fight
For the free love he feels now within his life.

There is nothing quite as sweet
As you two in this by chance meeting
What am I to do--
With scenes of family such as this?
Perhaps I'll just pull up a chair
And watch you dream sweet dreams
With a kind and gentle stare
Without you even knowing that I am there.
