Father of the Year

This Sunday is to be the day that many
Bring remembrance and honor to the family man.
Ah! But we all know here there isn’t any
Honor; no, no one here to take that stand
	         AND
I, your only daughter, and unwanted shame,
Will honor you as you so richly deserve;
Here is your gift: I am sorry I ever came
Into your world. Now, please observe,
	          AND
I finally leave you in peace at long last.
I apologize for not being the one
You wanted; I sense your relief but not so fast!
One other thing. Then, there will be none.
 	       READY?
When that boy you always longed for arrives
As you play with and love him as you couldn’t me;
As that child grows and you are filled with pride,
Remember someday your little girl loved Daddy.
	     SHE TRIED.
