Farewell To Dana
FAREWELL TO DANA
Our lives are full of come and go from the time that we are small,
And we admit it’s very hard to understand it all.
We go to school, we come back home, we come from here, go there;
It seems as though it never stops, not here, not anywhere.
A person comes into our lives, may linger many days,
And then events will come to pass and they will go away.
There are so many ways we go--a death, a new career,
Or just because we want to be with someone very dear.
And those who we will leave behind say, “How much we’ll miss you”
And promise that they’ll keep in touch but often rarely do.
As through our lives of come and go, how we accumulate
Experiences and friendships that we don’t want to abate,
Yet we can’t help those things some times, and here’s another case
Of someone who we’ve known and loved who’ll soon depart this place.
We wish we could hang on to you, that you would just not go,
For there are friends and family here who really love you so.
But now we must say our good-bye and pray that God will guide
Until we see you once again there standing by our side.
We know there are so many things about you we will miss--
The singing, teaching, fellowship, but for now we’ll just say this:
Wherever you may come or go, stay faithful and stay true,
Serve God just like you have done here in all you say and do.
Dedicated to Dana Evans
