Family Isnt Just Biological

When papa brought me home, I felt loved from the start.
I had no problem giving all of you my whole heart,
You all never made me feel like canine, I was family.
I was protective towards you all; I gave all of me,
When I ran out the gate, I ran after my little brother
Aimed to keep him safe; had strong bond with one another,
But I never made it across the street I was hit by a car;
I was hurt badly; all I could think was, it wasn't that far.
And where was my little brother? Was he safe and ok?
My life was fleeting; he came by my side that awful day.

Beautiful poem. Our furrever family will always have that special bond in our lives. As in your poem they protect us with their very lives, sadly this happens every day. What a great dedication to a family member we should honor.

Wonderful personification Alexis, sadly this is an all too common occurrence, you write with such empathy here about the dedication, and sometimes tragedy that befalls our family mutts, cheers David
