Notes About The Poem

What family means to me.

Family

Family

Family, heart of earth
The source of all our lives
Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers
Children, husbands and their wives

Family should be maintained
They're at the very core
As life moves on, lines radiate,
To include so many more.

The best of friends are welcomed in
Adding to the count
Not by blood but caring
To increase the end amount

Not without its conflicts
The family will change
On purpose or by accident
Will often rearrange

Friends fall by the wayside
God forbid, there's loss of life
Selfishness and covetous
Often causes further strife

We know of blood and water
Blood's the thickest of the two
In conflict's with blood family
Try hard to wear the other's shoe

Don't give up on family
Always give each other space
For family should always be
A safe haven in life's race
