Families-Pick Up the Phone

All differ in relationships that's for sure.
Sometimes, though very hard to endure.
.
Weep over dead animals with hue and cry, we do.
Never once realizing, that our days as family are numbered, too.
.
My question is, are we really family or just putting on false-face?
And if we are, a tragedy,a loss and a total disgrace.
.
A day has twenty-four long hours in it.
Dehumanized, degraded by the eternal,"I am too busy pit?"
.
That grave's mouth is waiting to swallow us all.
What's that you say~ you can't hear its roaring call?

Just read a reasoned editorial in that decidedly lefty-atheist mag, Scientific American (great science, admittedly) which actually concluded that 'Reach out and text' is no substitute for 'Reach out and touch!' Can you believe it? Sanity strikes the left every few decades or so! LOL. thanks, gwi

Holy Guacamole, Gershon! Is this article on line? I will search and see.there is hope for humanity yet! I would love to not be texted. Especially when people live within 50 miles of me. Texts are great in emergencies. Outside of that NO.Even email, equally offensive from those close to us keeps us at a distance. It is the fear of human intimacy. Add the ignominy, that " I don't have time to talk with you," Indicating other people, places and events come first. I find this hurtful! Suggest letter writing LOL.at least you see their handwriting. A big NO...takes too much time. I get it! I am not worth their time. Too bad! Wowie,,shocker from the left.Merci, Panagiota

It is so important to let family know how much they are loved before they're gone. Those family reunions we put off much too long. We need to connect before it is too late. I was just discussing this with my son today. He wants to have a reunion with all his cousins, some who have never met each other. I enjoyed your poem so much Panagiota. Have a blessed new year. xxoo

Connie~ I see we are on the same wavelength re time, relationships and the shortness of existence. The cousins should get together, three cheers. The idea of family get togethers is a lost art. The older they get, travel may be impossible.I am glad this poem touched a few hearts. I try to tell people there is no texting or cell phoning to or from a grave. It's a somber thought. But who are we kidding? Thank you and bless you, Panagiota xx

Strong message. Sad state of affairs. Priorities are screwed up indeed.

Powerful words though sadly so true Panagiota. My dear son used to ring me at least once a day though often 2 or 3 times - oh what I would give to get that phone call again... His passing makes me realise that each day is precious and we should always tell our family how much they are loved and not put that call off. Your line 'graves mouth is waiting to swallow us all up' oh how true that is. Bless you my dear friend I hope you are well. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Ann, I always have fears about my daughter when she leaves. About an accident, that might take her from me. I talk to her five times a day. I cannot fathom the agony and heartbreak you are going through. I would bring your son back in a flash if I could...to hug you and ring you up. Yes the graves' mouth opening is apropos! The Internet for all its good has deleterious effects.I have written about this before and will again. Right, it will get read by special angels here. But most really think posts, texts are real life. Living on FB, Twitter, INSTAGRAM...ETC. I am well,Ann but quite heartsick.thank you for your wishes! Your fellow Piscean, Panagiota
