Fall Forward

I fell and it paralyzed me I was stuck and couldn't move Then I started sliding backwards I completely lost my groove My footing was unsure I tumbled and I slipped Collecting dirt, sand, then rocks Before I got a grip By the time I halted I’d gathered quite a load Which threatened to pull me Further down the godforsaken road I gave in for a while To hopelessness and oppression But nothing good came out of Stagnation and depression I picked up all my baggage Feeling weak beneath the weight Wondering if my body Could even bear the freight I tightly closed my eyes  And stood with all my will Begging for the strength To start my journey up the hill As I climbed I realized Each step made me seem lighter And determined to continue, I was forced to be a fighter The trek is never ending And having frequently been floored I know the key to wiping out Is simply to fall forward
