Fall

Outside, where it’s 90 degrees.
We are hoping for a haunted breeze.
We wish ghosts could say hi.
And summer hail to stop falling from the sky.
Waiting for creepy scarecrows.
And corn mazes to pop up in rows.
Instead, we aren’t fearful.
Trees are lush and full.
Of green leaves.
On branches instead of eaves.
I still wear a scarf because it’s fall…
I should give a vampire a call.
I could plan my own party.
That will last until 3:30.
But they all want to go to the pool.
So instead I chat with a ghoul.
But even he wants to leave.
To hang out at the pool until All Hallows Eve.
