Faith For Living and Dying
When a man learns that his end is near,
On this earth, at least, he is filled with fear.
Fear that he has not lived his life in the way that he should.
Fear that he cannot change it now, at least as he would.
He wrestles with his theology and his mind, searches for the meaning
Of his own life, now that he’ll be leaving.
He hopes to leave the world a little better for his living.
And sets things straight with all his friends, and those who have wronged
Him in his race through life,
In his time on earth filled with sorrow and strife.
At first he denies his own mortality.
But later comes to terms with it,
And accepts his death expecting Immortality.
For God has given each of us a measure of faith.
Faith for living and faith for dying,
One is as important as the other.
