Fairyland of Fantasy

The hills that once were gold and red Are now a deep gray and barren instead, Awaiting the first drape of winter’s white Snow, or ice crystals sparkling in the light, When they become a fairyland of fantasy A sleigh ride through the bowered canopy, Headlining the holiday season’s pageantry Like on Christmas cards a frequent sight A walk in the frosty hills is such a delight Or bundled tight for a ride on a bobsled, Steaming chocolate, and a warm cozy bed.

Dear Milt, your brilliant pen captures the delights of the winter season with beautiful rhythm and rhymes and frosty imagery that's glazed with a sweet touch of nostalgia and warmed by a cozy last line for a grand finale. Your poetic finesse captured my imagination with ease. Congratulations for your excellent win in Mark's contest. Warmest wishes, my friend.. ~Susan

Milton, this is a delightful poem that also takes me back to my childhood in the Wisconsin snow. Your last line has given me an idea. Tonight I look forward to a cup of "Steaming chocolate, and a warm cozy bed!" Congratulations on your win on Mile 20 of my 2022 Poetry Marathon Contest. Keep your running shoes on because Mile 21 has already started. Also, check out my blog post to view your current standing in the Marathon.

So natural even though you followed a specific pattern. Nicely done.
