Failed Candidate

When you an important exam fail, It’s like you’ve stepped on a nail, As worrisomely you ail And seem not a little pale. At suspected mockers you rail And at those who would you hail, For as long as they close to you sail With scarcely trusted redeeming tale… You’re a prisoner’s heart beating for a bail But no consoling news from the mail: Your harsh father to put you up for sale!
