Fading Light

The drowsy solstice faded,
the glare of sunlight trimmed,
the intense light moved swiftly,
as daylight hours dimmed.

A portal slowly opened
across the saffron sky,
abducting fleeting sunshine,
as nighttime fell and nigh.

The gateway spun a moonbeam.
It landed on the sea,
then reached into darkness
and set the nighttime free.
