Faded

My bright pink hat has faded
To a washed-out-looking shade.
The sun has done a number;
It looks awful, I'm afraid.

Yet still, I plop it on my head
Though it is far from new
For if we're being honest, well,
I'm pretty faded, too.

There's a reason they sell faded jeans for exorbitant prices. People love an old friend of a piece of clothing. An old hat will never be just old hat.

It takes a special person to poke fun at herself…. This is a darling poem, like the person who wrote it! :) gw

I once read a poem of yours about wearing vests. I want to show it to someone. What is the title and approximate date, so I could look it up?

I think you might mean "Vested" - October 2018

I took a glimpse at my over-used, over-worked, straw hat with her bedraggled leopard print bow this morning on my way in from feeding the cat. This poem instantly brought her state right back into my bedraggled mind. Great one Ilene. I related instantly and so did my hat.
