Fade To Black
The transmissions that are passed down,
to guide us through this mystery.
They help us to find our way 'round,
and into books of history.
There's nothing in this sullen place,
missing the intended design.
you'll see it with your sacred face,
from the edge of the great divine.
fall then into the final sleep,
the universe takes it from there.
For what you sow then shall you reap,
the consequences you will bear.
The future is not ours to see,
no peeking into tomorrow.
Someday we might just be set free,
from the pain and from the sorrow.
As fate would have it just your way,
somehow we get all that we need.
How advanced will be the new day,
if we were cut would we still bleed?
Then when comes the scene called the end,
and with your love stand eye to eye.
The hurt you thought would never mend,
disappears with a gentle sigh.
Into the limitless unknown,
a place where nobody comes back.
All the sequels will have been shown,
and the stage calls out...fade to black!
originally in "All Yours, Feb. 28", contest.
