Facing the Music

We’ve introduced our grandkids To the music we adore – That’s classical or rock & roll; They always ask for more. For Henry’s coming birthday, I procured a perfect book – An intro to the orchestra; A CD was the hook. Describing all the instruments, Composers for them, too, It indicates which track to play So all will get their due. I realized, though, belatedly – You’ll know before I say it – That Henry’s house (unlike my own) Has no place he can play it! We listen to the radio (Alexa helps, as well) And in the car, for longer drives, Some kids’ CD’s do dwell. But modern homes have relegated CD’s to the past. Like hi-fi’s, LP’s and cassettes, Of course, they couldn’t last.

It is crazy how fast things become obsolete these days, Ilene. We purchased a new Xerox scanner, printer, copier for under two hundred dollars recently that four years ago retailed for $2000. I guess that is the good side of it, but I am so GLAD your grandchildren have a grandma who knows and loves rock-and-roll. I listen to it daily.

I understand your words precisely in this poem, Ilene. I have a very large CD collection of classical music – hundreds of discs, in fact. I hope the industry doesn't come up with a new technology that will make my CDs obsolete! If so, I will turn my ears to the classical radio station. / M

This is a precious write Ilene. The good news is you could get him an additional gift of a CD player that can be picked up at a yard sale for only a few bucks. I think exposing children to a variety of music when they are young is brilliant! I bet you’re an incredible grand mom!!
