Face-to-Face with the Magnificent Personage

        Straining, yearning for a glimpse
           of the magnificent personage

when shoved forward by the crowd’s energy
           he found himself face-to-face
with the object of the crowd’s adoration

What else could the ten-year-old lad do
but kiss Mr. Kennedy on the cheek
~ for which he earned a standing ovation

My Dad pulled off the road when JFK was coming through, accidentally beeped his horn and the President waved! True story!

Who else could it have been? After all, there were only tens of thousands of Kennedy supporters at the rally. ...

what a priceless moment! how cool. As a teenager I was a bit of a political activist and once attended a campaign event for Hubert Humphrey. At some point I slipped into the restroom and rushed back out so as not to miss anything...there was HH right in front of me.

Ahem. 'HHH.' Don't forget 'Horatio.' btw, He was the first and last Democrat Presidential candidate I ever voted for. lol. What was I thinking back then, anyway? (I would have voted for JFK, however. But I was too young in 1960).
