Faceless Friends

Sometimes I wonder where begins
the bond between two unmet friends.
In these words some lesser mind
may blatant contradiction find.
For how can two, like you and me,
be labeled friends, and faceless be?
The answer lies somewhere between
those things we see and some unseen
forces present in all men
that calls them to be unseen friends.
And when strength and purpose both abide
in one man's soul it cannot hide
too long inside and stay unknown
to others who may also own
some qualities of stronger men
like you -- my unseen faceless friend

POSTSCRIPT --This is for Mark, a student in Ohio who continued his studies after learning he was stricken by an incurable disease My life is emptier because I never had the privilege of meeting him.
God bless you, my faceless friend, I LOVE YOU!
