Face In the Ashes
When little birds return to darker skies
The last black petals fall to hallowed ground
And none shall hear the silent sound
Of tears that weep in anguished sighs.
The winter winds consume a heart
Discarded love has torn apart
As shattered soul meets its demise.
Dear little birds, that feed on crumbs
Of love; yet sorrow lingers here
Embracing chains of lonely fear
An empty heart in tears succumbs
To darker thought an end to sight
It screams for lithium tonight
To ease the pain and make it numb.
