Eyes Upon
In not caring when I’m broken
You become an absent friend,
In disdain for words I’ve spoken,
No desire to comprehend.
In not gleaning when I’m failing
You become a distant thing,
In unknowing of my ailing,
No acknowledged faltering.
In not giving when I’m needing
You become left far behind,
In neglect of my receding
No concern and never mind.
When night sets down narcosis
On the world and all it’s waking,
Turn cold eyes upon the night
And a heart forever breaking.
