Express Freedom

Society is our deity, we worship everything we see, We’re sold sold what we should be and lose morality,

and people all wear blinders when we view it in the streets, and violence is quick to follow now when new ideas meet,

separations easy, it does not take much to fall apart, and lets not try and change it cause we’re attacked each time we start,

we throw labels on each other like we’re all coming up in rap, blind to the divide and caught up in the trap,

opinions can’t be shared when we’re scared of making people scared, even if you don’t agree freedom to speak it should be spared,

can you kick it? yes you can, and not worry what’s offensive because it’s all a grain of sand, we put all this weight on words because now everyone’s a brand

can people just be people and not ideologies? we were born the way we are and owe no apologies, so skip my name on the list if your collecting sorry, please, because offensive or not words are the seeds to some beautiful trees

and we should say what we say and think what we think, because freedom of expression is whats really on the brink

when ideas are our judges and argument no longer fact, something must be done to keep common sense intact

but I’m just a dad with a pen and a pad my word and my family are all I’ve ever had, barely getting by and I’m not feeling sad

my kids have their mother, we’re blessed can stay at home, just afraid of what society will be when my little ones are grown.
