Exposure

Always a lesson to be won The constant reminder of what I’ve become Forever stuck with this despair The pain of a lesson I’ll never share One nail to drive into my skin Further from hatred when I let it in One thousand piercing little thoughts Exposing the acid of the hurt I’ve caught I can’t recall the dreams of life To want something true turns it into night More lies when more is yet to come Where nobody speaks and we have to run I’ll try to find a way to breathe Leading me to the one I think may see And then it all returns to dust As though the cycle just wants to kill my love The sun will burn away what’s real Breaking me down until I just can’t feel And then the lesson always comes Taking me further away from the dying sun
