Expectations
On and over these hills, I have trod
Seeking to see the face of God
Peering around each bend in the path
Only to see the same road I’d passed
Where can I find the beauty there must be
In Heaven, for all to see?
How can I know the majestic views from up there?
When all I see is the mundane down here
So I sit under a gnarled broken tree
My eyes grow heavy as it looks back at me
When I open them, I glance to and fro
To see a beautiful sunset all aglow
I see small creatures moving about
I see the mountains with their snow-caps
Rising to Heaven without a care
Never expecting to be away from here
Realizing God has given me Heaven right now
I sit back, open my heart, and simply allow
