Existentialism
1. EXISTENTIALISM
And there pigeon lay
blood dripping off tips of feathers glazed eyes wounded
A passerby filed pass
an angry little boy kicked
venting rage
of a lifetime stuck
in a tawny township flat
The bird rolled forward
onto the railway line
its will to live extinguished
on its tiny heart beat
Pumping, pumping
lukewarm blood
It still breathed !
eyelids opened in Blazing Sun
Babies long past gone
seeking their own worms
in more fertile soil
Boy mocked with bright
Conquering eyes
brown eyes in wonder at dull dying will
Threw a stone, missed
Tried to reach shimmering
feathers, throbbing body with long conquering fingers
Then ran off
A woman died
with moist eyes
Dripping blood
An unnecessary death
She walked home
