Existence Has Ended

Nameless people pass me by,
Just shadows in a long lost world,
Where darkness fills the empty alleyways,
And only skeletal remains where humans once dwelled.

Ghosts of the past still whisper,
Secrets left untold,
Of life, of sorrow,
Of long forgotten happiness,
That could not escape the grasp of time.

I still wonder where they all went,
Why am I still in this void-less world?
Humanity is just a thing of the past,
And only the spirits still wander.

Did something befall humankind,
While I slept in a dreamless world?
Only visions of the past have kept,
My painless mind going.

Am I just a vessel to carry on this existence,
To be the only one left,
In a world of nothingness?
Or shall I find peace somewhere,
Beyond the stars,
In the boundlessness of infinity?
