Exile
We build the walls ourselves,
Within their confines dwell,
In pointless isolation,
A personal prison cell.
We wrap up our potential
In barbed wire and bouquets
Of thorny Venus fly traps
And cold and empty days.
If no man is an island
Nor may live by bread alone,
Why seek self seclusion,
Sink into the twilight zone?
With a will to conquer exile,
Self aware we hold the key,
To revise and then revitalise
A life that sets us free.
Reaffirming of our being,
In humanity believe,
And refocus on the world
And on all we can achieve...
