Excuse Me
Excuse me for inviting you
Over to the bright side with me.
I’m a smiling woman with Christian roots.
The bright side is all I see.
I count my blessings all day long.
Sure I have problems – that’s true,
But when I walk by and say “good morning”
I’m only wishing the best for you.
Excuse me when I say I’m glad to be here
For this greeting that I’m giving.
The Lord blessed me awake this morning.
I don’t have to be living.
I don’t mean to impose my smile on you
If it offends you when I do it.
It may seem phony to you, but it’s real to me.
I’m on the bright side smiling through it.
I didn’t mean to intrude on your misery.
How foolish of me to assume
That everyone wants to be happy.
Some people won’t make the room.
So excuse me from the bright side out
For wishing you all the best.
You see, I feel really good about life.
Evidently you feel the rest.
