Everything I Love

Everything I love turns to water,

I've tried to hold it in my hand,

but it trickles through my fingers, just like water

All I've ever wanted turned to water

I've drown in what I thought was just a dream

I cannot breathe, I'm under water.

All I ever thirsted for is water

but it's a babbling brook I cannot understand

I cackles as it courses through my fingers

I'm left with just a dampness on my hand

Everything reflects upon the water

everything's an image in this pool

to reach for such an image is your folly

the idol becomes a ripple, and you a fool

it's only water
