Everyone Is Out To Get Her

She is bent over with worry Anguish mapping her face Her frown lines are deep, seem permanent I give her a bit of hope, but it goes nowhere She is professionally burdened, choosing to focus on the worst. Oh, woe is me! The world is dark and gloomy. Everyone is out to get me, nobody is fair. People are mean. I ask if she has given her problems to God. No, she says. He has enough problems of His own without mine. I tell her it works for me. But she is sure it will not work for her. Negativity rolls out of her mouth and off her back. I feel she is in the clutches of despair. Sadly, afraid to think any differently.
